Roadkill shock rocks the pink and grey’s
galah world, this is not wordplay, or deathpuns,
until the sun goes down, shocker, blood-letter,
hit and run make-over, splatterfest and gore show,
a ‘laugh-a minute’ partner wandering about in a daze,
follow-up slaughter wagons near missing,
hey, arseholes, enjoy the lingua thrill, make it franca,
the spinal cord-charged shadows of York gums
fracturing over the road, a moment’s pause
with the colour of it: so pink in the sun.
and the decorative compatibility of grey and blood,
the angles warped and fractal, the spilled grain
it was feeding on arranged in a supercilious grin:
at a loss, this companion bird, staggering rear window.
